LIGIOGRAPHY is a patented process that takes a photographed image and machines it onto a substrate, (typically, aluminum) by "milling" holes of various diameters and depths.

The “milled-holes-per-inch” matrix is independent of the feature qualities of the finished work. The resolution of the “milled” image remains the same, regardless of the “milled-holes-per-inch”, only the physical size will change. (The final product is extremely faithful to the original photo.)

With this process, photographic images are "hard machined" onto metal. (Image will last as long as the metal will last.)
